Description - Description: Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) operates two compressor stations Brighouse Bay and Beattock, both in located in South Scotland, to transport natural gas from the UK through a pipeline system to Ireland. The natural gas compressors on these co mpressor station are driven by gas turbines between 6MW and 12MW of rated power. The primary objective of the Electrification Programme is to reduce the use of fuel gas in the operation of the Brighouse Bay and Beattock compressors stations and associated fugitive emissions thereby aiding the reduction of greenhouse gas emission intensity by 50% (from 2010 level) by 2030 as outlined in Gas Networks Ireland’s Low Carbon Pledge.
