Description - Description: The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase five (5) snow scales, three (3) Sommer SSG-2, 1000 mm units and two (2) Sommer SSG-2, 2000 mm units from Hoskin Scientific Ltd. These snow scales are a measuring device for snow wa ter equivalent (SWE) in the snowpack. The goods are required for a CFI-funded project “Seasonal and sub-seasonal predictions for improved water management in the Rocky Mountains,” establishing streamflow forecasting observatories at two mid-to-high alpine sites in the Canadian Rockies. Meteorological towers and snow sensors collect the data necessary to estimate the required forcing variables and initial conditions that are in turn necessary
