Description - Description: The European Water Framework Directive (WFD) has been in force since 2000. The general objective of the WFD is to protect aquatic ecosystems and terrestrial ecosystems that depend on water from further deterioration and to improve the qu ality of these ecosystems. The Water Quality Improvement Programme for National Waters aims to ensure that the design of the main water system complies with the requirements of the Water Framework Directive (WFD). Rijkswaterstaat is faced with the task of having completed the WFD projects by the end of 2027 at the latest. WFD tenders are planned from the WFD regions of West Netherlands South (WNZ), Central Netherlands (MN), East Netherlands (ON)
