Description - Description: African swine fever (hereinafter: ASF) has led to outbreaks in wild boars and captive pigs since its introduction in 2014 in the eastern part of the European Union. In recent years, outbreaks have been reported in 14 different European M ember States. In 2018, an outbreak in wild boars in Belgium led to large-scale restrictions. Since 2020, Germany has been struggling with multiple outbreaks in captive pigs and wild boars. Particularly on the German-Polish border, this has led to large restriction areas and far-reaching measures to contain the disease.
