Description - Description: The magnet system for an Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source (ECRIS) provides confinement of the plasma to generate highly charged heavy ions. The final magnet system consists of three (3) magnet coils to form the mirror magnetic fie ld in the axial direction and a hexapole magnet to generate the radial magnetic field. The superposition of these two systems results in a so-called minimum B configuration of the magnetic field. This magnetic field enables a magnetically stable confinement of the plasma, which is needed for operation as an ion source.This document describes the required properties of the three magnet coils with power supplies and its technical requirements.
