Description - Tropical Storm Hilary exacerbated vulnerabilities at the South Bay International Wastewater Treatment Plant (SBIWTP), which was already at risk. The storm accelerated damage primarily through excessive flows and an influx of debris. Trash, sediment, and debris carried by the excessive flows caused entanglement in impellers and check valves, leading to pump failures. On September 30, 2023, a letter contract for construction was issued, not to exceed $1,500,000.00, for the purchase of parts and rehabilitation of the Non-Potable Water Motors and Pumps, following Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) guidelines.
