Description - Description: Ozone probes measure the amount of ozone in the atmosphere by sucking in outside air via a pump and leading it to two electrochemical cells in an insulated box, in which a chemical reaction of the ozone molecules generates an electric cu rrent, which is a measure of the ozone concentration in the atmosphere. These ozone probes are launched with meteorological weather balloons and the measured currents are transmitted via a numerical interface to a radio probe (= a mini weather station) which in turn transmits this data to the receiving station in Ukkel.
