Description - Description: The cities of Gelsenkirchen and Herten are working intercommunally on the development of the “Neue Zeche Westerholt” project. For this purpose, the two municipalities founded the development company Neue Zeche Westerholt mbH, which i s to develop the area for subsequent use. The measure is to be implemented in part with funding. The funding application as part of the 5-location program will be submitted at the end of 2024, and approval is expected in mid-2025.The planning area, which is around 39 hectares in size, is located on the city limits of the cities of Gelsenkirchen and Herten in the districts of Hassel and Westerholt and directly adjacent to the district of Bertlich.
