Description - Description: Since 2010, the ECB has implemented an environmental management system (EMS) in accordance with the international standard ISO 14001:2015 and Regulation (EC) No 1221/2009, as amended by Regulation (EU) 2017/1505 and 2018/2026. The ECB's priority remains to avoid greenhouse gas emissions wherever possible and to limit emissions where they cannot be avoided. In cases where emissions cannot be further limited and greenhouse gas emissions cannot currently be reduced to zero, the ECB has decided to offset its greenhouse gas emissions, expressed in tonnes of CO2 equivalent, as a complementary measure to its climate action efforts (2021: 16 023.2 tonnes of CO2).
