EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI) NOTICE
Sealed proposal (two bid system) is invited from the eligible Manufacturers/
Fabricator/ Registered firm for empanelment of agency to establish the Net House
(Insectary), Transgenic (Green) House, Plant Tissue culture and Transgenic lab on
turnkey basis in Berhampur University, Berhampur, Odisha. The sealed proposal
should reach to the Coordinator, CoEBESO, PG Dept. of Biotechnology,
Berhampur University, Bhanjabihar-760007, Dist-Ganjam, Odisha on or before
16.00 hr, 23rd September 2023. The competent authority reserves the right to cancel
any portion or the entire EoI without assigning any reason thereof. The interested
bidder should download the EoI document from the University Website
www.buodisha.edu.in.

INVITATION FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)
The “Bioprospecting of Ethno-pharmaceuticals of Southern Odisha to explore their potential
against cancer, infectious and autoimmune diseases (CoE-BESO)” is established at Berhampur
University with financial support from the OHEPEE, Department of Higher Education, Govt. of
Odisha, India. The centre is currently supported several projects funded by national agencies such as,
DBT and ICMR, and State agencies such as DST and OURIIP, Govt. of Odisha. At present, the CoEBESO has housed its laboratory facilities for Phytochemical analysis, Plant tissue culture, Animal cell
culture, Bioprocess engineering and Functional genomics studies on the 2nd Floor of CIC building of
Berhampur University. The major objectives of CoEBESO are1. Ex situ conservation of the six identified medicinal plants: through micropropagation,
cryopreservation and field gene bank/ Medicinal plant garden.
2. Phytochemical screening and profiling of the plant parts of the proposed six medicinal plants.
3. Exploration of metabolic pathways for differential accumulation of the target metabolites of
therapeutics value and its genetic improvement.
4. In silico analysis of the identified metabolites to characterize their interaction with pathogens
as well as immune cells (bioinformatics & cheminformatics approaches).
5. Validation and efficacy analysis of the active metabolites from the plant extracts against cancer,
infectious pathogens and auto-immune disorders
To achieve the objectives of the CoE- BESO, the centre planned to establish the following
facilitiesA. NET House (Insectary): 02 no (1000 sq ft. each)
B. Transgenic (Green) House: 01 no. (appx. 800 sqft)
C. Plant Tissue culture and Transgenic lab: 01 no. (750-800sft)
The purpose of these facilities is to1) Provide favourable micro climatic conditions for the plants,
2) Cultivation in all seasons is possible,
3) Control pest and diseases,
4) Raise tissue culture and genetically edited plants,
5) assist in hardening of tissue culture derived plants,
6) raise early nurseries under controlled environment, and
7) protect the plants from biotic and abiotic stresses.
