Description - The State Employee Health Fitness and Education Act 1983 as codified in Chapter 664 of the Texas Government Code authorizes state agencies to establish wellness programs such as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). An EAP must be designed to assist organizations in addressing productivity issues by assisting employees in identifying and resolving personal and work-related concerns. These include, but are not limited to work stress, alcohol and other substance abuse, marital and family difficulties, financial or legal troubles, and emotional distress.
