Description - Description: The Celtic Interconnector is a joint venture between EirGrid/SONI and its French counterpart, Réseau de Transport d’Électricité (RTE) in France, to develop a means of transporting electricity between Ireland and Central Europe and r ecoupling the SEM with Europe’s Internal Energy Market. The Celtic Interconnector is a 700MW HVDC cable connecting France to Ireland which will enable the cross-border transmission of electricity and is planned to energise on Q4 2026.
