Description - The Participating Authorities (Rother District Council, Wealden District Council, Hastings Borough Council, Eastbourne Borough Council and Lewes District Council) each have a statutory duty, under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, to collect and detain stray dogs found in the District. The duty to collect dogs brought to a nominated collection point outside normal core Council opening hours was placed upon the Council under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2007.The contract covers dogs found within the whole geographic area of Rother, Wealden Hastings, Eastbourne and Lewes Councils, and therefore, providers should ensure that they are prepared to cover the service throughout
