Description - Description: The Etzelwerk, built between 1932 and 1937, uses the gradient between Lake Sihl and Lake Zurich to generate energy. Originally built by NOK and SBB, the facility includes a reservoir, dam, pressure tunnel and machine house. After SBB too k over all shares in the 1980s, modernizations were carried out for the last time.In 2023, SBB received a new concession until 2102. Due to the aging of some parts of the facility, in particular the pressure lines and the machine group, SBB is planning to renew the power plant.
