Description - Description: The DM is undergoing a large-scale modernization process, called the "Future Initiative," which is scheduled to be completed in 2028. The exhibitions at the Munich Museum Island site are currently being updated; the exhibition building i s being brought up to date with the latest technology. The modernization will take place in two phases. The first implementation phase (RA1 for short) was opened in July 2022 with around 20 exhibition areas on around 20,000 square meters. Renovation work is currently underway in the second implementation phase.
