Description - Description: For the energy transition, one of the main innovations is the production and use of hydrogen gas (H2). Groningen is at the heart of the first so-called Hydrogen Valley in Europe. The University of Groningen is involved in research around hydrogen production, transport and use. While the use of H2 is beneficial for combating climate warming, the emission of hydrogen to the atmosphere needs to be minimalized. One of the groups in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, the Centre for Isotope Research (CIO) is pioneering the field of H2 emission measurements and quantification.
