Description - Description: Recent publications have shown that there have been long-term, strong declines in the abundance and biomass of insects (GERMAN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT 2017, HALLMANN et al. 2017). This has led to an increased public awareness of the decline i n insects and revealed the need to implement effective measures to protect insect fauna in Germany. It has also become clear that the level of knowledge on the occurrence, distribution and population development and their causes for the more than 33,000 insect species in Germany must be improved.
