Description - Description: Arlington County's Department of Human Services, Public Health Division, is required by Virginia (VA) State Code to diagnose and treat Tuberculosis (TB) to protect the community from this airborne disease. Arlington County's rate of acti ve TB is twice that of Virginia's rate. 90% of TB in Northern VA region is among those born outside of the US and coming from countries where TB is widespread. TB testing, especially among those born outside of the US, is ideally performed by a blood test. Interferon-Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) testing reduces the risk of false positives among individuals who have had Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine in their country of origin. False positive
