Description - Description: The Federal Institute of Hydrology (BfG) is responsible for the radiological monitoring of federal waterways. NaI probes are used to measure the gamma radiation count rate in the water. To shield the NaI probes from ambient radioactivity , they are operated in a measuring frame with lead sheathing. Low-radiation lead in shaped bricks is required for the lead sheathing. These shaped bricks are to be manufactured by the contractor using approx. 13.4 t of existing lead provided by the BfG.
