Description - Description: Since 2008, the national monitoring of litter has been carried out. In order to be able to follow and determine the trends and developments of litter, a national litter monitor is necessary. The monitor is input for policy support and po licy development. For example, the National Monitoring of Litter is the basis for testing the reduction of small plastic bottles and cans after the introduction of a deposit on both types of packaging. Based on this monitor, it must be determined whether the public space in the Netherlands has become “measurably cleaner”.
