Description - Description: In order to create ecological continuity in accordance with the EC Water Framework Directive (WFD), three transverse structures in the Hopstener Aa and two transverse structures in the Giegel Aa were converted into rough channel basin pa sses in 2016/2017. The barriers were built from sandstone.The very dry years that followed led to extreme NW outflows and a drop in water levels above the fish ladders.
