Description - Description: The JRC wants to purchase foils and wires of two Al-Co alloys with different composition. One alloy should be Al - 0.1 % Co, the other Al - 1 % Co (both m/m). They will be made from high-purity Al and high-purity Co, both provided by the JRC. The materials will be used as a basis for certified reference materials (CRMs) that serve as flux monitors in nuclear reactors. Typical users use 1-5 mg per use. To fulfil their role, it is important that • the material is homogeneous ideally on a 1 mg level, meaning that the standard deviation of mass fractions of Co in various 1-mg portions is ideally below 1 %; • the material is not contaminated by other metals during processing.
