Description - Description: The fiber optic connections in the ELIA network are of the order of 3 types: - Underground optical connection made by placing an HDPE pipe in a trench and/or a borehole, followed by blowing a conventional OF cable into the HDPE pipe. - O ptical air connection made by placing an OPGW cable or an OF cable wound between the HV line towers. The optical air connection is terminated at the two terminal masts of the HV line. The overhead line is extended with an underground connection to the building. - A combined air and underground connection of the two previous types and is used for cable/line crossings.
