REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL Consultant for Impact Assessment/ Good Practice Documentation About Organization: Child in Need Institute is an Indian non-governmental organization founded in 1974 by Dr. Samir Chaudhuri, a paediatrician, with other professionals from different disciplines. Over nearly five decades, CINI has been working extensively in the eastern parts of India. Currently, the organization has operations in 4 states of India, reaching out to more than 10 million disadvantaged populations. The vision is to create a friendly, responsive community where children and adolescents achieve their full potential. It works with the mission to ensure that children and adolescents achieve their rights to health, nutrition, education, protection and participation by making duty-bearers and communities responsive to their well-being. Project: “My School My Rights – An Inclusive Child Friendly Education Approach” funded by “Rural India Supporting Trust/ The Hans Foundation USA” About the Project: The project is being implemented within the deprived communities of Kolkata. Children living in slums is the target to attain improved learning outcomes through access to quality education in public schools. The project targets to reach 12900 children through 150 public schools and 30 community based Safe Spaces, 300 school teachers through different strategies Borad project objectives: To improve the learning outcomes of children by sustained recovery of their learning loss and ensuring minimum proficiency achievement in reading, writing and numeracy skills by the end of 1 year Equipping the prospective teachers with necessary pedagogical and 21st century classroom teaching skills To develop a community partnership model for building strong foundation of lifelong learning, retention and management of social determinants of education as per NEP To showcase and demonstrate the effect of joyful, activity-based teaching learning methods within public schools amongst the education ecosystem. Scope of Work: Paper based learning documentation to be developed to generate evidence through a scientific methodology to measure the impact within the lives of the children and within the system where CINI has worked through THF funded project. Impact of the project inputs on direct and indirect beneficiaries (including children, parents, School inspectors, school teachers and community members) are to be measured and documented. All the changes including academic, social skill development, negotiation skills attributable to the project will be tracked and to be reflected in this documentation. The positive attributes are to be highlighted as good practices of the project to be shared with relevant government officials for system level replication. For the same the consultant needs to do ten FDGs with the children, two FGDs with community parents, three FGDs with school parents and school teachers, two direct interviews with education department officials and collection of information for case studies if required. Deliverables and requirements expected from the Consultant: The key deliverables and requirements shall include the followings: A high-quality word document highlighting the impact of the project at school level, community level, direct beneficiary level A separate chapter on replicable good practices. A separate chapter on total 10 positive case studies of direct beneficiaries and different stakeholders. A high-quality power-point presentation focusing on impact The documents must contain data analysis, case stories, photographs Document to be done in English language DTP & designing to be done by the consultant in consultation with CINI and maintaining all CINI branding guidelines and child safe while developing the document A draft copy to be submitted for review, inputs and feedback Final copy to be submitted after feedback from the Programme Officer and Assistant Director of CINI Kolkata Unit. Analytical data of children’s academic improvement will be provided by CINI Draft of case studies will be provided by CINI The consultant has to undertake field visit to understand community perspective The consultant needs to conduct interviews and Focus Group Discussions with children, school teachers’ community members, SI, and other stakeholders to add on quality in the document The consultant needs to capture photos of real-life situation for use in the document The consultant needs to sit with all team members from time to time to discuss any problems and showcase the impact. The consultant needs to do meeting with the project staff at different stage to understand the impact of the project The consultant needs to interact with field level staff.
