Terms of Reference INTRODUCTION Bachpan program is supported by Save the Children Federation Inc. The Bachpan program aims to bring lasting change in the lives of underprivileged children of Uttar Pradesh so that they receive the required health, nutrition, development, and education services to survive, thrive and reach their full age-specific potential. Save the Children’s Bachpan program seeks to invest in quality programs (in the areas of health, nutrition, education, protection and poverty & inclusion) with measurable results for children, their families, communities, and the systems and policies, which sustain change over time. The Bachpan program approach emphasizes sustainability and local ownership through community mobilization and partnerships, and leverages platforms such as primary schools, ECCD centres, health facilities and youth clubs. The target group is children from birth to eighteen years of age following a ‘life cycle approach’. There are four core program focuses in the Bachpan Program implemented in Gilaula Block of Shravasti district: Maternal, New-born, Child Health, & Nutrition (MNCHN), Early Childhood Care & Development (ECCD), Basic Education (BE), and School Health & Nutrition (SHN) and cross-cutting themes include inclusion, gender equality, child rights, child participation, child protection, and humanitarian responses. Goal and Objectives of the Program The goal of the program: All children in the impact area are healthy and educated and become nurturing caregivers and positive contributors to society. The objectives of the project are to ensure that Increased utilization of key MNCHN and WASH-related services and adoption of good practices. Improved child development outcomes and caregiving knowledge and practices for children aged 0-8 years. Improved learning outcomes for all children through quality basic education. Improved learning and development outcomes for all boys and girls, which includes improved health and nutrition-related knowledge, attitudes, practices and behaviours. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY To measure access to food and the variety of food consumed by household members Understand the relationship between, dietary needs, access to food, and nutritional status of household members Examine the association between household dietary diversity and different household-level socio-economic and cultural factors. To study nutrition-related knowledge, attitudes and practices of household members.
