AIFT Statement of Business The American India Foundation Trust is registered as a public charitable trust in India. And is committed to catalyzing social and economic change in India and building a lasting bridge between the United States and India through high-impact interventions in education, livelihoods, public health, and leadership development. Working closely with local communities, AIF partners with NGOs to develop and test innovative solutions and with governments to create and scale sustainable impact. III. Scope of Work/ Key Deliverables A. Scope of work AIF proposes to hire the services of an agency to support the development of the following: (1) Undertake a community needs assessment in Nuh block in Nuh district in the State of Haryana: The purpose of the needs assessment is to, Establish the preferred sources of health information and preferred channels of communication for target beneficiaries (pregnant women, lactating/nursing mothers, caregivers of children under-five, adolescent girls and boys). Identify key beliefs and practices that influence iron folic acid supplements uptake, compliance, consumption of iron rich foods, diverse diet, food taboos, and meal patterns; seeking healthcare services for anemia detection, diagnosis, and treatment; nutritional preferences and habits during pregnancy and lactating period; beliefs and practices on complementary feeding. Outline 3-4 primary channels for SBCC based on community preferences and accessibility. Identification of key messages addressing social issues and behavior change objectives. (2) Capacity building of project staff on Social & Behaviour Change Communications (SBCC) Art of communication- rapport formation, giving relevant and contextual examples, paraphrasing, asking questions, listening and summarizing, and summing up Unfolding change step by step- Understanding the behavior change process Becoming impactful communicators- Qualities of good communicators- knowledge/ communication/facilitation skills, and values/attitudes Application of principles and accepted approaches of behavior change- Conduct of inter-personal communication (IPC), small group meetings, and any other type of communication activity for communities Using tools to initiate a dialogue during interpersonal and group meetings. (Please see the Annexure: D to know more about the Anemia program in Nuh block of Haryana) B. Key Deliverables Report on Community need assessment on identifying key beliefs and practices and health seeking behaviour undertaken Nuh block, Haryana with respect to the aforementioned challenges. Suggested that not more than 6 – 8 FGDs be undertaken as part of the community needs assessment. Training curriculum in English, Hindi & urdu for 35 community facilitators and supervisor-level staff, and adaptable to ASHAs, and Anganwadi workers encompassing anemia- its causes, prevention, treatment for different groups. Training related job-aids, tools, and materials. It is recommended that the agency identify and collate relevant SBCC audio-visuals and job aids from publicly available sources and other development partners (with due permissions) rather than the development of new digital tools. The agency can seek the support of AIF in obtaining permissions from identified sources for re-production/adaptations. Training, in person, of a total of 35 staff (community facilitators and Supervisory cadre). Training must be conducted in the local language (Hindi/urdu). Ten audio-visuals/digital tools an |
