Description - Description: The swing bridge over the Gouwe in Alphen aan den Rijn (Gouwsluis bridge) is located on the Alphen aan den Rijn – Woerden railway line, near km 15.8. The substructure of the Gouwsluis bridge is in such a condition that it needs to be r eplaced. This concerns the substructure of the railway bridge, the bridge structure (steel) of which is double-track but is operated on a single track. The unused part of the bridge functions as a passing path. The braking works, the movement work and the bridge installations also need to be replaced, with the bridge being operated remotely from Rotterdam (during the day) and Zwolle (night).
