WATER FOR PEOPLE Terms of Reference for Training Manual A) About Organization Water For People is an international non-profit working across nine countries to bring safe water and sanitation to four million people. For Water For People, it is not just about creating water and sanitation-related infrastructure, but creating long-term, sustainable change. Water For People engages with the community members, governments, and business owners to mobilize effective responses to the most pressing issues related to water, sanitation, and hygiene. Water For People works with the sector players, most importantly the senior decision-makers in governments, international public organizations, NGOs, corporations, and the private sector to help bring about change that contributes to lasting impact. Our advisory activities include six key services: market analysis, organizational design, partnership facilitation, investment analysis, financing fund and facility creation, and performance and impact evaluation. Water For People initiated its operations in India, first in West Bengal in 1996 with a program to address water quality issues in North 24 Parganas and Nadia districts. Since then, within a span of over a decade and half, Water For People – India has emerged in the WASH sector as a pioneer in delivering programs that cater to all the needs of communities, schools, and healthcare centers in the areas of water, sanitation, and hygiene. Today, Water For People – India is an active member of various state and national committees convened by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (MoDWS), Lohiya Swachh Bihar Abhiyan (LSBA), Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, and Mission Nirmal Bangla. Water For People supports water and sanitation programs in Bihar and West Bengal and is recognized widely for its holistic and integrated approach to designing solutions for quality sustainable water and sanitation infrastructure and services. B) Purpose of this Terms of Reference Background: Water For People is committed to implementing Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) strategies effectively to address various issues and achieve positive behavioural outcomes among target populations. To facilitate this, there is a need for a comprehensive training manual outlining the implementation processes of SBCC activities and guidelines for their effective monitoring. Objective: The primary objective of this assignment is to develop a detailed and user-friendly training manual that encompasses the principles, methodologies, and best practices of SBCC approaches. The manual should focus on guiding practitioners in the successful implementation of SBCC strategies and provide frameworks for efficient monitoring and evaluation of these initiatives. C) Scope of Work The key tasks for this assignment will be undertaken in close collaboration with the SBCC Specialist and the project management team of Water For People. Scope of Work: Conducting a thorough review of existing SBCC literature, frameworks, and case studies to gather relevant information. Collaborating with Water For People SBCC Specialist and program management unit to understand specific needs, challenges, and target audience considerations. Developing a comprehensive outline and structure for the training manual, detailing chapters, topics, and key learning objectives. Creating engaging content that covers SBCC principles, theories, methodologies, and practical application strategies. Designing the manual with a focus on user-friendliness, incorporating visuals, infographics, and other aids for better comprehension. Incorporating feedback from pilot testing and review sessions to refine and finalize the training manual. D) Deliverables Detailed outline and structure of the training manual for approval by Water For People. Final version of the SBCC training manual in both digital and print-ready formats. E) Basic Requirements Proven experience in developing training materials, particularly in the field of SBCC or related behavioural change strategies. Expertise in content development, design, and creating user-friendly materials. Understanding of SBCC methodologies, theories, and best practices. Ability to collaborate effectively with |
