Description - Description: The Vermont floods of July and December of calendar year 2023 damaged the existing stream slopes at the northerly abutment of the covered bridge spanning the Black River along Upper Falls Road. The floodwaters caused a slope failure of t he streambank, removed the rock slope protecting material along the streambank and removed the rock scour protection system from the bridge abutment foundation at the northerly abutment. The slope surface is no longer stable, the slope is unprotected from further deterioration during flood events and the abutment is no longer adequately protected from scour.
